Curriculum and Methods in the Secondary School. A course designed to help pre-service secondary teachers develop and practice the abilities and skills necessary to be effective classroom teachers in grades 6-12. Candidates examine curricula and complete assignments in their specific subject area, and develop a unit plan and lesson plans that address relevant state and national standards. A 30 hour fieldwork experience in a local school also aids in preparation for the student teaching experience. This course is normally taken the semester before student teaching. Prerequisites: TEP approval and senior standing. Four units.
